John Updike was full of wisdom and helped me understand so much of the subtle logic of life that makes it so confusing for those of us who can see clearly.
Below is a collection of his greatest quotes. I will paraphrase one thing he said that I can’t remember word for word and can’t find anywhere, but have thought about all my life. It goes something like this:
The old world around us is always dying and going away. A new world that we don’t know is always being born forming all around us. And because we only know the old world and not the new, we feel like we are losing something, not realizing that we are gaining just as much.
